The Lady Highlanders, Area Champions in the 2006 Texas softball playoffs, are starting to rack up honors in recognition of their outstanding year. Congratulations to all!
What a Season!
Lady Highlanders lose to Bryan, 2-0, 5-1
The record breaking season came to an end over the weekend as the Lady Highlanders were defeated by Bryan High School 2-0 on Friday at TWHS and 5-1 on Saturday in Bryan.
Lady Highlanders to play Bryan in Regional Quarterfinals
The Lady Highlanders will play Bryan High School in a best two of three series with the first game at 7 p.m. Friday at The Woodlands High School, the second game Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bryan High School, and the third game, if necessary, 30 minutes after the end of the 11 a.m. game at Bryan High School.

Amber Depasquale hit a lead-off triple in the fifth inning, Rachel Felker knocked her in with a clutch double, pitching ace Elaine Brown threw a one-hit shutout with a dozen strikeouts, and the Lady Highlanders played some excellent defense as The Woodlands High School continued to make history and defeated McNeil, 1-0, Thursday to win the Area championship at Bryan High School's softball field and advance to the Regional Quarterfinals against Bryan High School.
"It was a good win," said TWHS head coach Richard Jorgensen. "We played a good team. We faced a really good pitcher. The key was pitching and defense."
The Lady Highlanders have never advanced this far in the state softball playoffs.
Bryan defeated Round Rock in a best two-out-of-three series to determine who will play The Woodlands. Bryan won the first game, 11-1, in six innings, and the second game, 1-0.

"We hope to have a lot of people come," Stephanie Krysiak told the Conroe Courier. "The JV girls cheered us on Saturday. They were screaming loud. It was awesome for them to do that for us."
The Area playoff game is a single elimination contest against McNeil High School on Thursday, May 4, at Bryan High School. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

The Lady Highlanders won the first softball playoff game in school history Saturday, beating Belton High School, 15-0, in five innings. The Lady Highlanders then advanced to the next round in the playoffs - again, for the first time in school history - with a convincing 7-2 win against Belton in the deciding third game of the best of three bi-district series.
Due to weather, Saturday's games moved to Bryan High School
Saturday's bi-district playoff games, originally scheduled at The Woodlands High School, have been moved to Bryan High School. The first game begins at 4 p.m. The final game, if needed, will be played 30 minutes after the end of the 4 p.m. game.
Lady Highlanders lose heartbreaker, 2-1
Belton High School beat the Lady Highlanders, 2-1, in extra innings Friday night in the first game of the best two-out-of-three bi-district playoff series. The series now moves to The Woodlands for a 4 p.m. game Saturday at the high school. The final game, if needed, will be played 30 minutes after the end of the 4 p.m. game.

The playoff will be a best two out of three series against Belton High School. First game is Friday, April 28, at 6 p.m. at Belton High School. Belton is south of Temple on I-35 between Austin and Waco. The softball field is behind the football field at the high school. The second game will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at The Woodlands High School. The final game, if necessary, will be Saturday 30 minutes after the end of the first game at The Woodlands High School
Lady Highlanders to play Belton in first round!
The A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers clinched the second-seed playoff spot for District 13-5A with a 5-0 win over Belton High School on Saturday and will play Klein Forest High School in the first round of the state playoffs. Belton will take on The Woodlands this week.

- "With solid hitting and not one but two aces in the circle, The Woodlands softball team has all the pieces in place for perhaps an extended run in the playoffs," says the Houston Chronicle.
Lady Highlanders clinch second in district!
The playoff bound Lady Highlanders clinched second place in District 14-5A with a thrilling come-from-behind victory against Klein Forest, 4-2, and, since Huntsville clinched the district title at about the same time, will play the third place team from District 13-5A during the week of April 24. The Lady Highlanders' opponent could be either Belton High School or A&M Consolidated High School. Bryan High School won the District 13-5A championship and Belton and A&M Consolidated are tied for second place. Check back for details as they become available.
Meanwhile, the junior varsity Lady Highlanders won the District 14-5A championship Tuesday with a 6-0 shutout of Klein Forest's junior varsity team. It's the second year in a row that the junior varsity ladies have won the District 14-5A championship.
